Plans to deliver up to 70 new social rented homes in Witney

Encouraging progress is being made on plans to deliver up to 70 new social rented homes in Witney, following a positive update received by the Council’s Executive. The exciting proposed development on Woodford Way car park would help meet the growing local demand for one and two bed homes with over 2,300 people currently on the waiting list. It is mainly local young people who need this type of home and the Council would be using its own land to deliver these homes that otherwise would be unlikely to be built.

As plans progress the Executive is carefully considering parking, a key issue raised by local residents. Officers are currently working on designs that retain up to 77 public parking spaces on site, while also making best use of the significant unused capacity at Marriotts Walk multi-storey car park, including long stay spaces. Witney would also still have over 1600 free spaces. Full designs will be shared for consultation later in the year, when the public will have the chance to give feedback on the final plans before a decision is made.
