Neighbourhood Plan

Ducklington Parish Council are in the process of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan. A Neighbourhood Plan puts in place planning policy to guide future development at a village or parish level. It supplements existing National Planning Policy Framework and West Oxfordshire Local Plan.

The Parish Council decided to create a relatively simple Neighbourhood Plan because we want a Plan in place as soon as possible to give us greater influence over planning decisions, clearly define community priorities, and secure additional financial investment from developers. 

What have we done so far?

  • Informed WODC preparing Neighbourhood Plan - March 2023
  • Held public exhibition - October 2023
  • Developed vision and objectives - during 2024
  • Undertook community survey - Spring 2025
  • Undertook baseline research - Autumn 2025
  • Prepared draft version of the plan - Spring / Summer 2026


What are the next steps?

  • Further public exhibition – September / October 2026
  • Refine draft plan / submit to WODC for informal review - October 2026
  • Refine draft plan / submit to WODC (and other stakeholders) for formal consultation - December 2026
  • Refine draft plan / submit to WODC for examination - Spring 2027
  • Examination by independent Planning Inspector
  • Referendum / local vote
