This winter, thousands of older people across Oxfordshire will face a hidden crisis – not just the cold, but the crushing silence of loneliness.

Many of these could be your neighbours. 


Age UK Oxfordshire are seeing the devastating impact of loneliness every day:

  • An estimated 10,000 older people in our county are affected by loneliness.
  • 1 in 40 older people go a whole week without speaking to a friend or family member.
  • Loneliness increases the risk of depression, poor health and even dementia.


Age UK Oxfordshire are asking for you to please stand with them this winter. Whether by sharing our appeal locally, making a donation, or helping them reach isolated residents in your area, your support can bring warmth, friendship and hope to those who need it most. 


How you can help:

  • Make or encourage donations to fund friendship calls, home visits, social activities and practical support.
  • Help Age UK Oxfordshire identify isolated older residents who may benefit from their services.
  • Consider volunteering or partnering with them to reach those in need.
