Temporary closure of Cross Valley Way

Permissive bridleway to close between 2nd and 21st December

Map showing location of pathway
As another phase of work is completed and extraction activity at Gill Mill  moves to the south of Cross Valley way, work is needed to remove the field conveyor from beneath the Cross Valley Way.

This has been scheduled to start from 2nd December and will mean that the path will be closed until 21 December. A contractor acting for Smiths will be removing the gates and then refitting them as well as the associated boundary fencing. The hump in the track as it goes over the field conveyor will be dug out and the track reinstated to its original level. This work has moved ahead faster than anticipated and although this may be a disappointment to regular users the works will be as short as possible and the track will then be reopened.

If there are specific practical concerns do get in touch with the Quarry Manager, Ben Strickland, on 07976 894463.
