Plans for Salt Cross Garden Village have taken a major step forward

Plans for Salt Cross Garden Village have taken a major step forward after a government-appointed Planning Inspector confirmed the Council’s ambitious plans meet national planning rules and can move towards final approval.

The Inspector has backed the Area Action Plan (AAP), including its flagship Net Zero Carbon Development policy, one of the first in the country to set a clear, energy-led net zero standard for a new community.

Salt Cross, located north of the A40 near Eynsham, will include:

  • Around 2,200 new homes
  • 40 hectares of employment land
  • Schools, community facilities and green spaces
  • Safe walking, cycling and public transport routes
  • A new Biodiverse Country Park with ambitious nature targets

Following years of consultation, detailed examination and further hearings, the plan has been confirmed as sound. If formally adopted later this month, it will guide future planning applications and infrastructure delivery.
