Free food caddy liners
We are offering free rolls of food caddy liners to residents during December, through our Oxfordshire Recycling partnership with all Oxfordshire councils. The rolls will be available from 1 December at all Oxfordshire libraries for residents to collect, while stocks last.
Household food waste increases over the Christmas period. Each year we recycle 25,000 tonnes of household food waste in Oxfordshire but a similar amount is still ending up in general waste. Recycling our food waste generates green electricity and a fertiliser that is used on farmland across the county.
Warm home local grant
We’ve been awarded government funding to help residents on a low income make their homes more energy efficient.
The Warm Homes Local Grant is a government-backed scheme designed to provide fully funded energy efficiency upgrades - such as insulation, solar panels, and heat pumps - for eligible homeowners and private tenants. These improvements can make homes warmer, reduce energy bills, and help protect households from fuel poverty. Funding is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis..
Shape the future of our fire and rescue service
As Oxfordshire grows and changes, so do the needs of our communities. To keep people safe day and night, we’re reviewing how our fire and rescue service operates – making sure it’s fit for the future.
We want the views of people across the county. Please share this with others so more voices can be heard.
The consultation is open until 20 January 2026: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ofrs-consultation

Oxford temporary congestion charge
Six congestion charge locations in Oxford for anyone travelling by car are now in place. Residents can apply for a limited number of passes and permits are available for other groups including Blue Badge holders and mobile traders.
Live well in Oxfordshire
Live Well Oxfordshire brings together over 2,800 activities and services. Ranging from care services to new hobbies, find out about transport services, aids to help with daily tasks and support for unpaid carers too.
There is useful information and advice on a range of subjects and a calendar of events to help you select your activity. It's all aimed at giving people greater choice and control over the support and services they or a loved one need.
Unpaid carers
Caring looks different for everyone – for some it might be a couple of hours a week, for others it might be all day, every day.
Many caring today wouldn't identify as carers but are faced with real emotional, practical and financial difficulties. Their care counts, and we want to make life easier for people who care for others in Oxfordshire by ensuring they get the support they need and deserve.
