New strategy to restore nature and tackle climate change

We have endorsed the new Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) – a countywide plan to help restore and protect nature across Oxfordshire.

Led by Oxfordshire County Council, the strategy identifies key areas for habitat improvement, covering over 40% of the county – including nearly 41% of West Oxfordshire. It aims to support over 800 species, improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and increase access to nature.

The LNRS will help shape local planning decisions, guide new development through Biodiversity Net Gain, and support the delivery of West Oxfordshire’s new Local Plan.

Formed through expert collaboration and strong public engagement, the strategy is a key step in tackling climate and ecological challenges locally.
