Recycling points to be removed

Aston Road car park will no longer serve as a recycling point

Rubbish piled high at Aston Road car park recycling point

In line with West Oxfordshire District Council's review of the provision of local recycling points, the one at the car park on Aston Road, Ducklington, will be removed on 18 February. Charity bins will also be removed.

This follows regular abuse and misuse by users, who have seen fit to leave recyclable items piled up around the bins when they are full and to fly tip any other unwanted pieces of furniture or rubbish. It is believed that the bulk of this is being left by visitors from outside the village, but in case you find yourself in need of somewhere to dispose of rubbish, Dix Pit (and other household waste recycling  centres) remains open between 8.00am and 5.00pm during the lockdown. Oxfordshire County Council's website offers a wealth of ways to recycle or dispose of items. If stuck, you can take advantage of their bulky waste collection, which has to be booked in advance. The cost is £27.68 for up to three items. Additional items - up to a maximum of five - are £9.22 each. Why not share the cost by pairing up with a neighbour. Link to Oxfordshire County Council for details.
