Works continue to build new slip roads at the A40/B4022 Shores Green junction

Installing kerbs, for boundary and safety

Kerbs and edging are now being installed along the B4022. This ensures clear marking of the boundary between the footpath and the carriageway. The project ensures that both the footpath and the road will offer a safe and accessible environment for all members of the community.

Our team is also conducting rigorous quality checks throughout the process to ensure all elements meet the highest standards of construction.

Landscaping continues

February has brought steady progress on the project’s landscaping work. More tree pits have been delivered and installed along the route, including areas on both the North and South banks. The introduction of new trees will help to enhance the look and feel of the area while supporting biodiversity. They will also make use of naturally available water, helping to improve drainage and contributing to a more sustainable approach to managing surface water across the site.

Maintenance bay

Work is moving ahead on the new maintenance bay on the south side of the site. The stone base and kerbs have now been fully installed, giving the bay a solid foundation. The next step will be to lay grass over the top, helping to make the area both durable and environmentally friendly. Once finished, the bay will be well‑prepared for long‑term use and ensure it is fit for purpose.

Our plans for the environment

While it's been necessary to remove some vegetation to enable construction, we have now started the re-vegetation of the disturbed area. Our robust landscaping and environmental protection strategy includes the following:

  • Re-vegetation using native species, with appropriate on- and off-site biodiversity offsetting.
  • Implementing erosion control to mitigate soil degradation.
  • Continuous monitoring and restoration of natural habitats.
  • Planting trees, shrubs, and hedges.
  • Creating wildlife-friendly habitats and ecological corridors.
  • Safeguarding and enhancing local biodiversity.
