Ducklington volunteers working on the ditches

On Saturday the 11th of April the first Ducklington Volunteer Working group began the process of repairing and maintaining the ditches and watercourses through Ducklington.

Led by Craig Warner, the volunteer coordinator, and after a thorough safety briefing the group started by clearing litter and vegetation from the ditch behind the sports pavilion and along to Standlake Road by the School. You will be able to see the quantity of litter and rubbish removed from this section in the photograph.

The aim of this project is to get our ditches and watercourses into a state that will allow easy maintenance and ensure that the problems we have had with surface water are alleviated. It is supported by Oxfordshire County Council and the West Oxfordshire District Council.

The volunteers meet every other Saturday and we are currently looking to expand our rota of volunteers. You don’t have to commit to every meeting but your help will always be welcome. Please see the Volunteer Working Party pages on our website for more details of our project and the how to volunteer.

A big thank you to our volunteers who gave up their time for the village.
