Get involved in your local community and help make Ducklington a nicer place to live.
Many people depend on the newsletter and website to keep in touch – you could help by donating a couple of hours a month to write a small article or find out what local groups are doing.
If you can write a short article, write a review of a local event or meeting or interview a local resident we are interested in hearing from you. You don’t have to know anything about the web – although we do appreciate some nice digital photographs to accompany the articles. Training and support are both available. The website and newsletter are particularly valued by the Parish and we know from feedback that more local articles would be welcome – this is chance to help make both better. You may be studying Media Studies at school or just interested in local affairs. Please get in touch for a chat if you are interested.
Example roles could be…
Local Journalist: Find local news items of interest, take a photograph and add news items to the website. As long as the stories have a local interest to the majority of people in the parish we are interested in them. Examples could be contacting local clubs and societies and writing up or interviewing them about their meetings or activities for example.
Diarist: We offer space on the site to publicise events from local groups. Finding and getting in touch with local groups – adding their meetings and events to the diary and writing news items about their activities; help others connect and get involved with what is going on in the parish.
Photographer: We are also looking for some good photographers to document life in the parish with photographs and small write-ups. This could be one a month from several people.
Please do get in touch if you would like to have a chat about getting involved in any way and helping our community keep in touch.
