District Council update: services in snow

West Oxfordshire District Council have issued an update on their services during the snow

Snow and council services: 1.30pm

Cold weather, with snowfall and icy conditions, is expected to continue over the next few days.

It is important to take extra care when out and about, whether in vehicles or on foot, as conditions are expected to be extremely icy.

Oxfordshire County Council is working to keep roads clear and gritted as much as possible and we have been gritting council-owned car parks in West Oxfordshire.

We have deployed our street cleansing staff to assist the County Council as much as possible with salting key pedestrian routes around our town centres.

Waste and recycling collections suspended – Our crews have been out since 5.30am but we have had to postpone any remaining bin collections today (Friday) due to heavy snow. Please leave your bins out and we will collect them as soon as possible.

The Dix Pit Household Waste and Recycling Centre is now closed. For the latest update on household waste centres, please check Oxfordshire County Council’s website.

Leisure Centres – Chipping Norton Leisure Centre closed at 1pm today. Windrush, Carterton and Bartholomew leisure centres remain open.

Council offices – Will close at 4pm today.
