VACANCY: Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

Ducklington is a small parish near Witney in West Oxfordshire and we are looking to appoint a new Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to the Council.

Requirements

The main responsibilities of the role include producing agendas and minutes for all council meetings, liaising with outside bodies and contractors, enacting the council’s decisions, managing income and expenditure and maintaining the council’s financial records. The Clerk will be required to work from home and have their own transport. Some evening and out of hours work is required – the Parish Council meetings are held on the first Wednesday evening of the month. The successful candidate will be computer literate (including Word and Excel), and confident in using email and the internet. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are essential as is a large degree of tact, diplomacy and flexibility in dealing with members of the public and other bodies. A good understanding of financial management and bookkeeping skills would be of benefit. A familiarity with local government law and procedures and finance would be an advantage. Remuneration is £10.93 per hour with an additional £10 per month paid as a working-from-home allowance which is not subject to PAYE/NI. Paid hours are 34.75 per month and the annual leave is 30 days pro-rata. The Clerk is the Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer of the Parish Council.
